Prevyou

How to add virtual try-on to your Shopify store

Install the Prevyou app, open your theme editor and turn on the “Prevyou” app embed. A “Try it on” button then appears on your product pages. Choose which products offer try-on, adjust the colors and test it with your own photo. No code is needed and it takes about five minutes.

Step by step

  1. Install Prevyou from the Shopify App Store

Approve the permissions. You start on Pay as you go with 10 free try-ons each month; no card is asked by Prevyou, billing goes through Shopify.

  2. Turn on the app embed

In Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds, switch on “Prevyou”. The Prevyou home page links straight to this screen and shows whether it is on.

  3. Adjust the button and badges

In the same app embed, set the button text, icon, shape, colors and animation, and turn badges on for product cards on the home page, collections, recommended products and cart.

  4. Choose the products

In Prevyou → Products, offer try-on on all products or on selected products and collections. The product type (top, dress, eyewear, ring…) is detected from your catalog and can be corrected.

  5. Set the window and limits

In Prevyou → Appearance and Settings: logo, colors, add-to-cart or buy-now buttons, “Complete the look” suggestions, limits per shopper and per month.

  6. Test with your own photo

Open a product page of your store and run a try-on. Results usually appear in about 15 seconds.

Frequently asked questions

Does Prevyou work with my theme?

Prevyou runs as a theme app embed, which works with Online Store 2.0 themes. It has been tested on Horizon, Dawn, Sense and Savor, on desktop and mobile. If the button is not placed where you want, you can set its position in the app embed settings.

Will it slow down my store?

The script loaded on every page is small; the try-on window only loads when a shopper opens it.

Can I try it before going live?

Yes. Test stores and development stores are never billed, and the theme editor preview shows the button and badges before you publish.
